My Financial Independence Story
Founder, Healthy Numbers
"I want financial independence" she said
And I asked "What would it mean to you to truly understand what's going on financially in your business?"
Now I ask you: Imagine feeling safe financially, knowing there is always enough money in your business to pay yourself and to cover all your costs. How would that feel to you?
Understanding money is something we learn. I knew from a young age that I wanted financial independence - I just wasn't sure how I was going to achieve it.
Where did I start my journey to financial independence?
I developed my money skills and grew and built my financial expertise. It all started back when I landed my first job. My mum said I could keep all the money I earned on one condition: that I save 10% out of every pay packet.
My mum also bought me a ticket to attend a "Women and Money" workshop. There are 2 key messages from that workshop that I remember 30+ years later:
- "You need to take charge of your money and create your own financial independence because there is no Prince on a white stallion coming to sweep you off your feet."
- "Compound interest is the seventh wonder of the world."
During my 20 years in Corporate Australia I built my financial foundations. I took every opportunity to learn as much as I could and develop my solid knowledge and understanding for how big business operates.
Starting my own business almost 20 years ago was certainly a shock and at the same time one of the best decisions I have ever made. Small businesses are the very backbone of every economy across the globe. Drawing on all my financial knowledge I built and grew my business. I've learned some tough lessons; some financially expensive and some more costly to my self esteem and self image. As one of my mentors says "Starting a business is THE BEST self development program you can enrol in" and I absolutely agree.
Now I help other small business owners to build their business and to achieve financial independence. To understand how money works in their business. To develop their money mindset. To create financial safety for themselves in their business.
I know that the business financials scare a lot of people. It's easy to feel intimidated when we don't understand. My role is to demystify the reports, the numbers, the language and much more.
You are smart. You are really good at what you do. Is it time to tackle your numbers? your financials? I'm here to help you.
