Recently we looked at FOBO: Fear of Better Options and the way FOBO is holding some of us back from making decisions – in business and personally. If you didn’t have the chance to read it click here
A few people emailed me to let me know they tried out the 2 minute timer technique and said:
“Hey Ingrid, It really works! Thanks”
I said I would write more about how making progress will improve your overall feeling of well-being.
Did you know feelings of well-being are strongly linked to resilience? and hardiness? and one of my new favourite words – grit?
And these are some of the necessary characteristics needed in business, to function in 2019 and beyond. I have interviewed almost 100 business owners and entrepreneurs for my podcast So You want to Start a Business and over and over these are the characteristics they say make them successful in business.
Would you like to know a really simple way to be more resilient, to build hardiness and to develop “grit”?
The answer is Goal Striving.
This is not goal achievement.
Goal striving involves setting meaningful goals and making daily progress towards the goal. It is the progress towards the goal that provides the sense of well-being that in turn leads to resilience, hardiness, grit and so much more.
Coaching magnifies Goal Striving.
When I work with clients they love to text and email me between sessions:
“Ingrid, I called that client and here is what we said … I never thought I’d be able to do it, and now I know I can”
“Ingrid, I wanted to let you know that I’ve applied to be at those markets and they said “Yes”. I thought it would take so much longer. Now I really need to get organised!”
People love the feeling of achievement, of making progress towards their goal.
Is this you? When you set a goal and start working towards it, does that make you feel a greater sense of well-being?
I’d truly love to hear your stories. Please contact me and let me know what you’re working on right now and what is the progress you are making.
Ingrid
