I was reading the newsletter from an amazing organisation called “Fitted for Work”. Part of their mission is to “help women gain the self-esteem and confidence to secure their goal of sustainable employment” through providing a wide range of services from interview skills and resume writing to actually assisting with a new wardrobe of clothes so that women are able to have their own income. Truly Amazing People.
There are times when I feel like there are too many email newsletters in my Inbox, like most people, and last week I was waiting in an airport lounge and decided to have a “big clear out”
In the newsletter from Fitted For Work there was their summary of the recent Australian Budget and its impact on women. I was stunned to read that one aspect of this budget is “From January 2015, new jobseekers who are under 30 years of age will have to wait up to six months before receiving unemployment benefits, and will then have to participate in Work for the Dole.” Read more here
This had me thinking. Who could survive for 6 months with no income? Could I? Could you? How much do you have saved for a “rainy day”? Whether you are an employee in another business or you have created your own business what would happen if there was absolutely no income for 6 months?
Would having no income day after day make me more resourceful? Would I start to be more creative about the things I did to generate income? Would I sell assets?
What would you do?
