When I first started my own business I loved being able to have a coffee chat with my fellow business startups. There were a few of us who were trying to kick start our own business around about the same time and chatting about our issues was a great way to feel that everything that was happening was normal; staying focused on what we needed to do was challenging, finding new customers really was really challenging and making enough money to replace our “JOBs” was something we were still dreaming about.
Being in our own business felt good, we just weren’t really making enough money and we didn’t have enough customers
We’d have our coffee chats and we’d all leave feeling better and knowing that we weren’t alone and that it was normal to feel like this, others were having a difficult time as well.
We’d head back to our businesses and keep doing what we’d been doing.
Then I joined an Accountability Group.
My life changed.
We met regularly and we shared what was happening in our business and we made plans for what we were going to achieve between meetings.
At the next Accountability Group meeting we each felt Accountable for what we had set to do. Even if I wasn’t at the meeting I knew my Accountability Group buddies wanted to know what I’d done to move forward
An Accountability Group is different to straight out coaching and different to having a chat with fellow business owners.
If you aren’t making as much progress as you want to make and you want to help yourself move forward, find yourself an Accountability Group.
