Today I want to tell you about a new client who recently contacted me. Her name is Karen (obviously not her real name) and she left her Corporate role a couple of years ago to start her own yoga school.
Karen loved yoga, had been doing it for years, went to retreats, surf and yoga camps and “just knew” this was going to be her new life ….. Until …..
Karen found that running a yoga business is quite different to enjoying her favourite poses and the meditative Shavasana!
In fact she has come to me for help because as she said “I am SO sick of yoga, I never want to see another yoga mat!”
IKES!!
The word sustainability is used a lot in the media and we tend to think of sustainability as only being associated with the environment, or climate change and the sustainability of food production or the oceans.
Many haven’t considered sustainability as an important factor in running a business.
How do you sustain energy? enthusiasm?
Is your product or service sustainable? or is it bound to a specific point in time? physical location? demographic?
These are just a few of such wonderful questions to explore at different phases in our business journey; before we get started – in what I call pre-StartUp, and then in StartUp phase and again over and over through various business cycles; questions of sustainability.
Whatever business you choose, whatever products and services you offer and provide, what is the sustainability factor? for you and for your business.
If you are reading this and you are feeling a bit like Karen …. please contact me and we can tackle your sustainability factors before you reach the point of no longer being able to sustain your business.
