Over the past few years I have become a real fan of something called Appreciative Inquiry and I like to mix some AI questions in with my other coaching questions.
“Appreciative Inquiry is about the coevolutionary search for the best in people, their organizations, and the relevant world around them. AI involves, in a central way, the art and practice of asking questions that strengthen a person or a system’s capacity to apprehend, anticipate, and heighten positive potential.” from A Positive Revolution in Change: Appreciative Inquiry by David L. Cooperrider and Diana Whitney.
Here are 4 key questions to ask yourself as 2015 ends and 2016 begins:
Achievement
What are your top 3 wins/ achievements for the past year?
Growth
What are the biggest challenges you grew through? What did you learn from these challenges that has made you a better person and a business owner?
Aspiration
What are your top 3 aspirations for the year ahead?
Drive
How do you want your X to be different?
The ‘X’ here are the areas such as – marketing, sales, revenue, team, etc. Pick 4 or 5 X’s and write them down
Now what to do with your answers. Questions 1 and 2 focus on where you have been your best. Questions 3 and 4 look at where you want to go and what are the areas in your life and your business that you want to be different.
