Recently we featured a podcast interview with Kayla Houlihan to coincide with the first birthday of Tribe skincare.
Kayla has created a pretty fantastic business and recently posted her success to a FB group we are both part of.
As you can see in this screen shot/image she made more than $91 000 in sales in one month and as she says:
“$91K times 12 months is over $1M a year….and we are still working out of my spare bedroom!😂🙈
A perfect example of doing things your own way! Everyone keeps asking when I am going to get a shop or a warehouse, but I really enjoy the 20-second walk to the office and being with my dog all day 🐕
There are no rules!🙅🏼♀️ You just do you and want makes you feel content 🤗💕
What’s really interesting is that she then added an edit:
EDIT: I just want to add that there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking about your own success in a positive way! You are allowed to be extremely proud of yourself! ☺️ Women are conditioned to talk about their ‘failures’ and things that didn’t go to plan, while men are conditioned to talk about the things they did well (straight from the ‘Mamamia Out Loud‘ podcast). I choose to talk about my wins rather than setbacks
Quite astonishing really that she needed to add the edit – some of the comments in the FB post were less than supportive of her success.
It seems I’m not the only one who thought this story worth telling, News Ltd also published a summary, scroll down to read that article*.
When you listen to Kayla tell her story – Episode 64 of my podcast on iTunes click here to listen – there are so many reasons she could have given up along the way. Things have not all been smooth sailing for her and yet here she is making $1 million with a range of very niche skin care products in just her second year of trading.
There is much to learn.
For everyone who has a business selling products, and ultimately even if we are selling services there’s lots to learn and to apply from Kayla’s business.
